A Lifetime of Teaching Experience
I studied for six years with Aaron Shearer at the North Carolina School of the Arts, earning a master’s degree in classical guitar performance and pedagogy. I later performed the musical examples for Learning the Classic Guitar, Volume III: Interpretation.
My performance experience—from solo and concerto appearances to chamber music and touring—gives me a broad foundation to help each student develop with clarity, confidence, and individuality.
MY APPROACH
My goal is to help each student become a more expressive, confident, and independent musician. Lessons are shaped around your individual interests, experience, and goals, with an emphasis on natural technique, musical understanding, and the enjoyment of making music.
What You’ll Learn
Technique and Ergonomics: I help students develop efficient, natural movement that supports comfort, control, and a beautiful tone.
Musical Understanding: Lessons connect technique with music reading, fingerboard harmony, repertoire, style, and interpretation—so you understand not only what to play, but why it works.
Practice and Performance: Students learn to practice efficiently, solve problems independently, prepare music for performance, and build skills that continue developing beyond the lesson.
Lessons are available in person in Tigard, Oregon, or online. Both formats offer the same personal attention and carefully tailored instruction, making it possible to study wherever you are.
I’d love to hear from you!
